Miami Beach is Not the Design District (and Vice Versa, I’m sure)

November 30, 2009

So I’m flipping through the new issue of Dining Out magazine, which is basically an ad-driven listing of restaurant menus interspersed with a few articles.  It is hard to tell what is bought-and-paid-for and what isn’t.  So I’ll assume it all is.  And then I stumble upon what appears to be an ad for Jonathan Eismann’s restaurant empire (Pacific Time, Pizzavolante, Fin, and Q; the last two are not yet open but will open soon).  Here’s the ad:

But upon closer inspection, each of the four restaurants list the following beneath their street address:

Granted, Pacific Time used to be on Miami Beach.  But it crossed over to the mainland a couple of years ago.  And the other three restaurants are definitely not on the Beach (and never have been).  So, the moral of the story is: the beach is not the Design District.
